The Brunei Startup Summit (BSS) returned for its second edition on January 22 to 23, bringing together 400 key figures from the local and regional entrepreneurship ecosystems to collaborate and network over growth opportunities.
Held at Level 4 of the Rizqun International Hotel, BSS featured over 20 sessions split between keynotes and plenary sessions on the main stage, alongside concurrent workshops. The event also included an exhibition and pitching showcases to highlight promising startups from Brunei to regional attendees, including venture builders and capitalists.
With the theme "Rise and Thrive: Building Scalable, Resilient Startups and Fostering Collaboration," Acting CEO of the Brunei Economic Development Board Daniel Leong said that this edition of BSS offered three focused tracks to provide attendees with valuable insights and access to experts, leaders, and entrepreneurs in synergistic fields.
Leong added that BSS is the capstone startup networking event under its enterprise development arm, DARe, which offers a suite of startup entrepreneurship support throughout the year, including incubation, capability building programmes, and financing.
“This event not only provides a platform to connect our entrepreneurs with key regional players but also highlights our commitment to welcoming more startups and partners from the local and regional community into our ecosystem,” said Leong.
The scaling strategies and growth hacking sessions offer actionable insights to help startups amplify their operations efficiently; resilience in challenging markets provides tools to navigate uncertainties; while the power of collaboration highlights how partnerships can drive innovation and foster sustainable growth. Workshop topics also cover generative AI, coding, cybersecurity and intellectual property.
The involvement of Techsauce Media, a leading technology and entrepreneurship media platform in Southeast Asia, as a programme partner, further elevates BSS as a platform that attracts and showcases leading voices in the region. The Brunei Startup Summit 2025 is supported by sponsors Brunei Innovation Lab (Platinum), BIBD (Gold), Progresif (Gold), Baiduri Bank (Silver), DST (Bronze), and Royal Brunei Airlines (Airline Partner), along with ecosystem partners Antler, AWS, ERIA, and Niaga Compliance.
